"Background Vocals," curated by local artist and MIF member Jes Allen, takes its name from the singers who prop up a soloist's fame while remaining in obscurity, a role women of color have long been asked to play in service of causes that credit others; this exhibition brings those voices to the front and gives them the chance to shape their own narrative. Featuring works by Ada Asenjo, Debra Harley, Donyalle Jackson, Erica Chenise Wilcox, Jes Allen, Nahla Joy, Sandra Charles, Shauntrice Black, Tomisha Lovely-Allen, Ton'nea Green, Suyun Son, and Uhma Janus.
